Surfing idly

Surfing idly, I chanced to find your face,

The smile, well-known, the chin, the eyes -

Features which fascinated fifty years ago.

I ponder on your portrait, staring, I will it to react;

Come alive, speak! at least blink and show

That you remember. Those vivid days,

Racing to all events in town,

The latest films, jazz bands and plays,

A meaty menu for our delight.

Step out of your home-page and talk again,

Tell me you recall the good times,

Our togetherness, our plans.

Dare to travel beyond the safety zone

Of your self-created niche and say,

Why did it end?
